Classification of microorganisms by Risk groups (Biohazard groups)
According to international standards, microorganisms are classified into 4 risk groups in accordance with the WHO (World Health Organization), ACDP (Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens) and Einstufung von Pilzen in Risikogruppen (TRBA 460):
Group 1: microorganisms that are unlikely to cause disease in humans or animals.
Group 2: microorganisms that can cause disease in humans and / or animals. There is usually effective prophylaxis against them and the caused diseases are treatable.
Group 3: microorganisms that cause serious human and / or animal diseases. There is usually effective prophylaxis against them and the caused diseases are treatable.
Group 4: microorganisms that cause serious human and / or animal diseases and there is usually no effective prophylaxis and treatment against them.
CCM stores only microorganisms classified in the risk groups 1 and 2.
