Student visit to the CCM
In the frame of the Microbiology Excursions course, biology and biochemistry students from the Faculty of Science of Masaryk University visited our collection.
Dr. Sehnal takes up the position of Head as an expert with extensive international experience and a specialisation in the biosynthesis of natural products, metagenomics and bioinformatics. His research, focused on the identification of biosynthetic gene clusters and the discovery of new bioactive metabolites, significantly expands the potential of the collection, particularly in deeper functional characterisation of microorganisms.
His expertise in modern genomic and bioinformatic methods can make a substantial contribution to expanding the characterisation of collection strains, broader integration of strains into international databases, the strengthening of collaboration with international partners, and further development of research and teaching activities.
The CCM team wishes the new Head a smooth start, much success, and great satisfaction in leading our department. We believe that together we will continue to maintain the high quality of the services provided and further enhance the prestige of the Czech Collection of Microorganisms.
