Dr. Sehnal takes up the position of Head as an expert with extensive international experience and a specialisation in the biosynthesis of natural products, metagenomics and bioinformatics. His research, focused on the identification of biosynthetic gene clusters and the discovery of new bioactive metabolites, significantly expands the potential of the collection, particularly in the area of deeper functional characterisation of microorganisms.
His expertise in modern genomic and bioinformatic methods can substantial contribution to expanding the characterisation of collection strains, their broader integration into international databases, the strengthening of collaboration with international partners, and the further development of research and teaching activities.
The CCM team wishes the new Head a smooth start, many successes, and much enjoyment in leading our department. We believe that together we will continue to maintain the high quality of the services provided and further enhance the prestige of the Czech Collection of Microorganisms.
